THE BEST CUP OF TEA
Water: Start with freshly drawn great tasting cold water. Bring to a boil.
Let water sit for 5 minutes if using for delicate teas like white and green teas.
While the water is heating add hot water to the teapot to warm the pot. Empty just before you add the tea leaves and just boiled water.
Tea: Measure one teaspoon (2-3 grams) tea for each 6-8 ounces of water, approximately.
Cups, mugs, and teapots vary so much so know how much volume it holds.
Use more tea for a stronger tea.
Use more water for a weaker tea.
Add Water: Pour water that just started to boil over loose leaf tea in a deep tea basket in your cup or teapot depending on which temperature is appropriate for your type of tea, allowing room for the tea leaves to unfurl.
Steep: Steep 3-5 minutes for black teas (190-212℉).
Steep 2 minutes for green (140-190℉), white (160--185℉) and oolong teas (180-200℉).
The longer you steep, the bitter the tea taste.
Herbal tisanes will taste better steeped 3-5 minutes.
Use water nearly to the boiling point for pearl form tea or rolled oolongs.
Enjoy: Drink as is, or add milk and or sweetener to taste.
Do not add lemon to tea with milk.
Honey is preferred in some teas.
Share: Invite someone to enjoy a pot of premium tea and your company!
ICED TEA: Brew double strength (2 tsp/cup), cool, pour over equal amount of cold water/ice. Garnish as you wish.
Tea comes from the leaves of a plant called Camellia Sinensis, which is pruned short so the two leaves and a bud can be easily harvested. An example of tea is Keemun China Tea. Many teas are scented or blended to enhance the aroma and experience.

Roots, stems, flowers and parts of herbal plants are a "Tisanse" as they do not come from the tea plant. An example of a Tisane is the Chamomile herb. Some people call it “Chamomile Tea” as generally referring to “Tea” as a hot beverage that has been steeped. Rooibos is another beverage which does not come from the tea plant, but the rooibos bush. It has been called the "red tea" and not commercially cultivated nor marketed until the early 1930's. Rooibos provides natural beneficial properties.
Many tea bags contain the "dust and fannings" from broken tea leaves. The quality of tea is far superior when steeping loose leaf tea. Remember, add more tea if you want a stronger brew, not longer....as you will produce a bitter tea. Some of our popular loose leaf teas are available in biodegradable pyramid tea bags.

Use freshly drawn water, too! A typical 2 ounce bag of loose leaf tea will brew 25-30 cups of tea. This depends on how strong the flavor you want and whether you steep the bag more than once.
Tea is a food product and is not returnable.
